I Like Earth
by Andrew Abel
Description
The Earth has oceans and mountains and fresh air to breathe. It has creatures of every kind. The water is drinkable and the ground is solid beneath your feet.
Which is more than you can say for anywhere else in the solar system.
This rhyming picture book takes young readers on a tour of solar system - the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto - exploring what each one would actually be like to live on. The verdict is the same every time.
Earth turns out to be pretty much the perfect place to live!
For ages 3–6.
From the Author
I have long marvelled at how perfectly suited Earth is to life, and how inhospitable the rest of the solar system is. But after hearing a message from a scientist friend on the uniqueness of our planet, I found myself freshly awed.
So I thought it would be fun to write a book from a child's perspective - trying to decide which planet to live on. Most books about space are about the excitement of going somewhere new. I thought it would be fun to contrast that with someone who, after careful consideration, would be perfectly happy staying right where they are.
